1:10pm - 1:50pm Driving Business Transformation Through Data and Innovation

Many businesses are facing disruptive change and the survival depends on how companies traverse the so called “Valley of Death” and successfully implement innovation from ideation to commercialization.  Studies have shown that one out of ten innovation ideas fail because innovation leaders are often ill-equipped for the journey.  A structured industrial innovation process powers a leader with tools necessary to convert ideas into opportunities, create the compelling case, adopt, and implement a solution.  This is especially true at Bell and Howell, a 112-year old company that has successfully transformed its business model through data driven innovation and building a “startup” culture within an existing company culture.  We will share this success story along with real-life examples, challenges faced, and lessons learned.

1:55pm - 2:00pm How Adobe Runs its Business on Data

While Adobe enables many of the world’s largest brands to transform their businesses, they too had to face the always-on reality of digital business. Central to this process was the introduction of what they call the Data-Driven Operating Model, or DDOM. Get an inside look at how Adobe fundamentally transformed how they operate by creating a common language and way of working centered around data.

Your analytics tool is running like a well-oiled machine, your reports are automated, and you’re generating tons of actionable insights. Now it’s time to move up to an executive role, but what skills do you need to make that transition? Oftentimes it is the softer skills that make a great leader. How do you find time to hone those skills while you’re managing your day-to-day work? And how do you deal with having less time for actual analysis? Amy will share her journey and some of the lessons she’s learned along the way.

Harnessing data in today’s business environment can be complex and confusing. Organizations need a data strategy to guide them. The days of a monolithic, one-size-fits-all data strategy are long gone. Organizations must be nimble in their approaches, willing to accept challenges and failures, and adapt to the real-time pace of changing consumer behaviors, multiple marketing initiatives, and pressure to achieve operational efficiency amid ever growing volumes of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. Thus the need for an Executable Data Strategy that helps companies by breaking down data strategy into its component parts and enabling an agile approach to assembling the necessary requirements for using data with purpose.
